Why Get an Immigration Assessment?

There are over 80 different immigration programs and not all programs evaluate a candidate's eligibility the same way. So, scheduling an Immigration Assessment with a licensed consultant helps you determine if you are eligible for temporary or permanent immigration to Canada.

A comprehensive immigration assessment will help verify if you have the minimum requirements for Canadian immigration, and which of Canada's 80+ programs can expedite your immigration process.

The assessment is provided in writing by an immigration lawyer or licensed immigration consultant and usually includes an immigration plan of action which sets out the efforts and undertakings an immigrant will need to take in order to meet Canadian immigration criteria.

The result helps new immigrants direct their efforts which saves time, money, potential frustration and the risk of being misled by fraudsters making false promises.

What information will I need to provide?

Canadian Immigration programs such as the Express Entry System, the Quebec Immigration Program, and Provincial Nominee Programs use a point system to determine eligibility. Consequently, immigration consultants use the point system as guidelines to determine their client's eligibility and the best course of action.

Based on your estimated score, your immigration consultant will find an immigration program that's suited for you. Or your consultant will advise you on what you can do to improve your score before you apply for any program.

Additionally, your immigration consultant may give you options for other immigration programs you may be eligible for.

How is my eligibility calculated?

Immigration consultants may use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) as a guideline to estimate your score and eligibility to migrate to Canada.

Factors that will affect your score and eligibility include:

  • Age

  • Education

  • Skills and Work Experience

  • Language Ability: English and French

Other factors that can boost your score and eligibility:

  • A Canadian degree, certificate, or diploma

  • Canadian Work Experience

  • A close relative who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

  • A valid job offer

Your immigration consultant may have a one-on-one conversation with you to determine what your score is or they may ask you to complete a form before your consultation.

Making a small investment in an immigration assessment shows a level of commitment in wanting to start your immigration journey with as few hurdles as possible.

Is the assessment form difficult to fill out?

Filling out assessment forms is quite simple. You will answer a series of questions about yourself, your education, experience, and skill. The assessment form uses the information you have entered to add up an estimate of your score. Keep in mind that even though immigration assessment forms are modeled after the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), your actual CRS score may be different. The score you obtain through an Immigration Assessment is meant to be used as a guideline only.

Your immigration consultant will make recommendations about the program best suited for you or where you can improve to bring up your score, such as taking language classes to improve language scores.

Overall, the advantage of having an assessment with an immigration consultant is that they have more experience and knowledge about the immigration system, so they can create a clear path for you to immigrate to Canada.
